A new future, when your body rewrites the rules.
I coach people in demanding jobs who want to look after their health before it changes, while it's changing, or once it already has. Together we look at your whole life as it is now, work out what matters most, and build the plan and the confidence to make lasting progress.

After you book, I'll send three short questions so we can make the most of our time.
Before, during or after a change in your health
You're in a job that asks a lot of you, and your health is part of what gets you through it. When it starts to change, or already has, there's suddenly so much to take on board, often while you're still trying to keep everything else going. It can bring fear, uncertainty and overwhelm. I know, because my own health once took a turn that affected my work and left me unsure what came next. Where are you right now?
You're running on empty, or your health is sending you early signals, and you'd like to act before it becomes a problem.
You've had a diagnosis, or symptoms nobody can explain yet, and you're carrying on at work while you make sense of it.
You're coming back after illness or time off, and you're not sure what you can manage now.
Finding your footing
When everything feels up in the air at once, at work and at home, it's hard to know where to begin. We start with the whole picture: your body, mind, sleep, work, relationships and the things that give your life meaning. You'll see clearly what's working, what's holding you back, and where to put your energy first.

Renegotiating identity
Sometimes your health shifts how you see yourself too. Your old pace, or your old self, might not fit any more. I ask the questions that help you work out who you are now, what's important to you and what you really want next. We build on the strengths that have already carried you this far, whether this feels like a loss, a fresh start, or a bit of both.
Changes that fit your life
We turn what you want into a plan you'll actually keep. You choose the changes, to how you eat, move, rest or work, and set goals that are yours. We think ahead about what might get in the way and track your progress, so you can see it working and feel your confidence grow week by week. I draw on positive psychology, so we build on what's already going well.

Hello, I'm Jo.
I'm a UKIHCA Registered Professional Health Coach with an Association for Coaching accredited coaching qualification, and a Personalised Care Institute (PCI) Practitioner. The PCI sets the standards for evidence-based training in personalised care in England. I'm also a British Psychological Society Chartered Psychologist and an experienced health academic. I moved to part-time as an Associate Professor at the University of Bath so I can focus on my coaching.
I developed an interest in health coaching after a significant health diagnosis shook my confidence in myself and my body. Years of searching for the root cause led me to a different decision, to improve my overall health and fitness, despite living with an invisible chronic condition. I wish I'd worked with a health coach at the time. It would have changed everything.
That experience and my academic background in psychology and public health led me to train as a coach, helping people whose health has reshaped their working and home lives and their relationships with colleagues, friends, and family. I hope I can do the same for you.
Each coaching session with me feels positive, practical, evidence-based and led by you. My goal is that you leave every session feeling empowered, willing and able to take the steps needed to reach your goal, whatever that might be.
After you book, I'll send three short questions so we can make the most of our time.
Where to start
Springboard
Six weeks of focused, personalised coaching to build realistic health and wellbeing strategies that fit your life, before, during or after a change in your health.
What's included:
- A 45-minute onboarding session, then six weekly one-hour sessions by video call
- A written summary and your goals for the week, by email after each session
- Short coaching activities and text support between sessions, as much or as little as suits you
- Anything that comes up in the week, I'll research for you and feed back at our next session. If it would help, I'll also point you to other health professionals.
- A gentle bit of accountability, as every session starts with how you got on with your goals
What you'll take away:
- All your session summaries and weekly goals, in writing
- Strategies we've developed and agreed together for the weeks that don't go to plan
- Your next steps for after the six weeks, worked out together
All your coaching is with me, Dr Jo Cranwell, a UKIHCA Registered Professional Health Coach with an Association for Coaching accredited coaching qualification.
Coaching works alongside any care you have from your GP or health team. It isn't therapy or medical treatment.

Many clients continue after Springboard. We'll talk about this together, so you never have to choose on your own.
- Rebuild (6 months): weekly sessions to make deeper change stick, for when your health, your habits and your sense of who you are need attention together.
- Boundless (12 months): a full year of steady, supported change, whatever it is you're working towards.
Prices for Rebuild and Boundless are shared on the discovery call.

A programme shaped around you
No two people arrive at coaching the same way, so none of my programmes look identical. Sessions tend to run weekly, by video call, giving you a steady rhythm to keep momentum going.
Between sessions, the support adapts to you and what we agree. That might mean check-in messages to keep you accountable, set tasks to work through, or a mix of both, depending on what actually helps you move forward.
All programmes are flexible enough to fit around your life, and structured enough to keep you on track.
Weekly sessions
Review and build on your progress
Change is rarely a straight line, so we will review it together as we go. We'll always explore what's working, what needs adjusting, and what you're learning about yourself along the way.
I'm constantly led by what you need. Some sessions dig deeper into a setback, others will build on momentum.

Questions people often ask.
What happens on the discovery call?
I offer these calls via video link. We briefly explore where you are now, what you'd like to change, and whether coaching is the right fit. There's no cost and no pressure to continue.
Is coaching the same as therapy?
No. Coaching is rooted in Positive Psychology and is future focused.
Where do sessions take place?
Online, via video call.
How long do people usually work with you?
I offer three coaching programmes: Springboard over 6 weeks, Rebuild over 6 months, and Boundless over 12 months. Sessions are usually weekly and last around one hour.
Is coaching regulated, and why do training and registration matter?
Coaching isn't regulated by law in the UK, so anyone can call themselves a coach, with or without any training. When you're talking to someone about your health, I think trust really matters, and so does knowing your coach has been properly trained and is accountable to a professional body. I hold an Association for Coaching accredited coaching qualification, and I'm a Personalised Care Institute Practitioner (the Institute sets the standards for evidence-based training in personalised care in England). I'm also a UKIHCA Registered Professional Health Coach. That means I follow UKIHCA's Code of Conduct and Scope of Practice, I'm fully insured, I have ongoing professional supervision, and I keep up my training every year.
How much does it cost?
Springboard is £720 for six weeks.
Or pay in three instalments of £240, at no extra cost.
Prices for longer programmes depend on what you need, and I'll share them on your free discovery call.
